After long hours of study, the Adhaan is called out and we head to the Musjid. But while we are walking, we chat our time away while great wealth is being distributed for free in the Musjid. Which wealth is this?

It is the wealth about which Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned, "A house will be built for every Muslim who offers 12 Rakaats of optional Salaat (Sunnah Salaat) in a day and night."

Now which are these 12 Rakaats?

Two Rakaats before Fajr
Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned, "The two Rakaats before the Fajr Salaat are better than this whole world and everything it contains." (Muslim)

Four Rakaats before (the Fardh of) Zuhr and two after
Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned, "Whosoever observes the practise of offering 4 Rakaats before Zuhr and 4 Rakaats (2 Sunnats and 2 Nafl) after Zuhr, Allah will shield him against the fire of Jahannum." (Abu Dawud)

Four Rakaats Before Asr
Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned, "May Allah have mercy on a person who offers 4 Rakaats before Asr." (Abu Dawud)

Note: These 4 Rakaats are not part of those 12 of the Hadith mentioned above, but are also great in reward.

Two Rakaats after Maghrib Salat
Hadhrat Ibn Umar (Radhiallaahu Anhu) has mentioned, "I offered along with Allah's Messenger (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) 2 Rakaats after Maghrib Salaat." (Muslim)

Two Rakaats after Esha Salaat
Ibn Umar (Radhiallaahu Anhu) has mentioned, "I offered along with Allah's Messenger (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) two Rakaats after Esha Salaat."

Note: From the last 2 Sunnat Salaats mentioned above, we see that the eminent Sahaabi, Abdullah Ibn Umar (Radhiallaahu Anhu) who was known to be an Aashiq (lover) and ardent follower of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would not miss these Sunnats. From this, we can deduce the great importance attached to this Sunnah.

Respected readers, we can earn so much wealth in so little time with as little as 2 Rakaats. But we will only perceive the importance of this wealth when our eyes close and the veil is removed.

Allah Ta'ala says, "Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your veil and sharp is your sight today."
